Dear Mr. Winter,

This year you have been hard on us.  You seem to have no qualms about dumping huge  amount of snow and ice on us, or dropping the temperature to bone chilling lows.

You seem to want to be remembered, talked about, and dealt with. I get it. We all need out time to shine. I hope you got enough of what you were looking for.

I do want to let you know, that although you keep on barraging us with so much cold and snow, their is still incredible warmth to be found within your days.

This shoot testified to that. The warmth, love, and real little moments of family can not be frozen by your bitter tries.

so long,

Zoe

More sweet sun.

February 2, 2011

I woke up to the sound of icy rain pounding on my windows. Cold, dreary,  rain that feels like it is pouring into your veins and makes you want to curl into a ball and sleep until the sun shines.

These are a beacon of warmth and sun. I am so happy to be posting them on a day like today.

another dose of sun.

the joy of sunshine.

January 31, 2011

I had the good fortune of having a joyful and sun drenched shoot in Miami Beach, Florida. Now that I am back in the blistering cold and snow filled NY I can at least look back at these and feel a little bit warmer. Check back for the next couple of days for little doses of this shoot.

I hope these, and the rest coming for the next couple of days, bring a bit of sunshine to you too.

Light,

life,

air,

joy,

love,

and a fresh new day.

That is what these images are all about.

Happy New Year to all of my friends, family, and followers. I hope this year brings you lots of all the above mentioned.

“hehe.” That is me squealing over this session. But rather than a  gentle chuckley  squeal is more like the sound of the world ignited into rainbows of vibrant light.  At least that is what it feels like.

These beautiful little bundles of personality are so lucky to have a Mommy that has such a unique gift in finding them the cutest and most timeless clothes!  So am I.

See for yourself.

O family there’s are a whole lot of squeal worthy ones that I can’t wait to show you! Thank you for such a beautiful day!

Thank you Kay, Pat, and Emes Bus Transportation for making this session possible.

There is just something about this image that reminds me of Norman Rockwell’s work. An artist whose work I idolize.

When I think of this beautiful family the word Content bounces around in my mind. The kind of content happiness that has the ability to fill mountains of space. The kind that bubbles into occasional giggles, spontaneous hugs, and a sweet calmness that engulfs you with its entirety. I was totally in awe of this beautiful family and for once I was at a loss of words to describe why. All I could think of is that enviable contentedness that makes them all so wonderfully special.

K Family, It was so fun and special spending time with you yesterday. I feel blessed to have met you all.

Three times a charm. Right? This little beauty is celebrating her third birthday. I am celebrating the fact that I got to photograph her and her doting and wonderful parents for the third time. Miss S is so full of personality and joy in such a content and calm kind of way. She is all you can dream of in a little girl. Having Mom be such a great shopper and dress her up so adorably doesn’t hurt either. :)

Here is a quick sneak peek of our time together.

Every now and then I have a session that makes my heart pound. This session was one of those. I am a huge fan of all things vintage, beautiful families both inside and out, and magical indoor natural light. Combine all three and my heart sings.

This session was made possible in part by some wonderful people. Thanks to you all.

Fabiana- who flew all the way from Idaho to watch me play. I feel honored that you chose me to learn from and blessed to have gotten to meet you.

The Z Family- For just being so beautiful and full of that calm sort of sweetness that makes me want to hang out with you all and photograph you every day.

and Kay for making this magical location possible.

Here are some of my favorites.

We  were driving home from the session singing in the car our own off key version of 99 bottles of beer on the wall. My kids. My husband. My family. All of us giggling hopelessly. We were up to 66 when the thought struck me. I love my family. Yeah, well, duh. (roll eyes.) But seriously, I love how we are all such unique individuals and how we mesh together to create one whole.

And that got me thinking about how lucky I am that I get to peek into the lives of other families. How connected I get and how awed I am to see the dynamics and personalities weld into one fantastic unity.

This family was especially rewarding. I feel so blessed that they gave me the opportunity to step into their lives for a bit and get to photograph and document with art who they are both individually and together as a family. C Family you are all so beautiful both inside and out.  Thank you for allowing me to capture just a slice of it. I can’t wait to show you all the rest of what we created together.
